ONE. MORE. WIN. REDS.

Excellent performance, great team selection from Klopp. Liverpool could have fourth wrapped up before Middlesbrough, but that’s unlikely. We can still get third, but let’s not get carried away just yet.

Simon Mignolet – 6 – Early save from Fernandes set the tone for another good day, wasn’t tested too much but helped himself in that regard with another number of good punches from crosses and corners.

Nathaniel Clyne – 6 – Beaten early on a few occasions by Cresswell but recovered after that and offered some better passing angles than we’ve come to expect in recent performances.

Dejan Lovren – 6 – Another six, I know. The truth was that the Liverpool defence, and Lovren, weren’t tested much but they did what they had to competently. Although, I’m perhaps marking Dejan down one if Ayew doesn’t smack the post twice after he loses him from a corner.

Joel Matip – 6 – Solid as usual against teams that threaten little, nice to see him realise that he is actually quite tall and make a difference in the opposition area, albeit hitting the bar.

James Milner – 5 – Was tempted to give him lower but we’ve won 4-0 so. Genuinely horrendous first 45 minutes, loses Byram early for a chance, poor touches/passes/crosses. Got better after half-time though and did make a few good challenges when pressing. Still though, not great.

Emre Can – 7 – Captain, leader, legend. Excellent once more in a slightly deeper role than he’s played recently. Passing was alright, but it was his breaking up of the play and tackling that stood out, plus a calmness on the ball even when in precarious situations.

Georginio Wijnaldum – 6 – Has disappeared a little too often recently and had again today until he decided enough was enough and pinged a 25 yard volley off the crossbar. Sorts him his six. Am I being harsh given we’ve won 4-0? Well…

Philippe Coutinho – 9 – Absolutely fantastic from start to finish. Good corner for Matip, has a sweet left-footed shot saved and then just comes into his own. *THAT* pass for Sturridge, *THAT* dribble for his first goal and *THAT* composure for 3-0. Please stay, Phil.

Adam Lallana – 6 – Lively, popped up in some good positions, final ball was lacking somewhat though. Did well for 88 minutes having not started in a while.

Daniel Sturridge – 8 – The wiggly arms! Sturridge was superb, everything Liverpool have lacked in recent weeks. Even in mundane attacking situations, his presence of mind and quick feet can change things in a flash, evident in how he instigated the fourth goal. Scored with a lovely finish and deserved another.

Divock Origi – 6 – The first 60 minutes was very much a case of ‘is he playing?’ before everyone went ‘there’s Divock’ as he pinged a 30 yarder off the bar (very much in tune with Wijnaldum and Mane). Got a goal which was good, the quick feet he showed to shift the ball back at goal was impressive, but then ruined it by not laying off Sturridge after that. Maybe a good one for the confidence?

Lucas, Woodburn and Grujic – NA.

  1. FINALLY KLOPP KEEPS locus OFF THE FIELD CAN’T WAIT ONE MORE GAME THEN THE 10 YR WASTE OF SPACE IS GONE!!!!!!! SO HAPPY!!!!

  2. Seriously, Coutinho gets a nine? I don’t think so. Either way, the first half was poor, but picked up after we opened the score.

  3. Poor article, did you watch the game or the highlights? Not sure where you get Milner playing a 5 from. Can a 7? In that case, Wijnaldum should get an 8.

And don’t lower yourself by buying into the ‘please stay, Phil’ or like other quoting ‘Sturridge’s penultimate performance’ rubbish.
