The Face Off Podcast: The Trial of Four

Kay is joined by Nina and Allen for this bumper edition of Face Off that takes on a four spectres of the LFC squad that currently loom the largest: Lallana, Can, Moreno and Sturridge. For each the question is essentially the same - should they stay or should they go? Is Lallana worth is new extension? Is Can worth the same favour? Has Moreno hoverboarded out the door? Does Sturridge have a home? Big questions answered by a superb duo of guests.

The Reds rise from the DEAD! Kay entices Jason Belk (AI USA) and Steve McGookin (Spurs fan) onto the pod all LFC fans have been waiting for since the turn of the year. The Reds dominated and controlled a Spurs team that not a few fancied to turn us over. For Spurs, a disappointing game, where injuries took their toll, and the team just couldn't react to the LFC pressing, disruption and pace. On similar points, both teams will start to look forward to establish themselves in that top 4. As a final note, get well soon, Lucas, and a tip of the hat :).

Another game and another dropped cup, the cursed month of January 2017 continues as Kay welcomes back LFC fan Grizz Khan, and Wolves fan and blogger, Thomas Baugh. We reflect on another tepid afternoon for the reds, and another team who found it far too easy to sit back and pick LFC off on the counter. We talk LFC defending, Wolves defending, the wave that never came from the LFC attack, and possibly the start of a better run of form for Wolves in the Championship.

We look at an initially promising but slightly drab first half, defensive issues again for LFC, some promising signs for Swansea, a worrying start to 2017 for LFC and light, finally, for Swansea after a horrible season thus far.

Anfield Index welcomes back ESPN correspondent and Plymouth Argyle fan, Mark Lovell, for the second leg of the FA Cup tie. We talk about the game, which delivered a chance for Plymouth so close to going in that Mark screamed his wife awake! Other points include the all round play of the two teams, the performance of the so called "big players" on the day, the and the penalty calls. We also discuss what this result means for Plymouth going forward.

Kay hosts this special edition of Fan Reaction with Plymouth Argyle fan and Bayern Munich Correspondent for ESPN, Mark Lovell. While the game presented a frustrating evening for the reds, it was an evening of unrestrained joy for Plymouth's Green Army. We start, however, by discussing some things related to the Bundesliga including Klopp's stint at Dortmund, and what's happened at the club since he's left. Onto the game, and pod moves into the Plymouth defensive approach, the lack of LFC penetration and real clear chance creation, and perhaps a chance for Plymouth to take the win right at the end. We also discuss Plymouth and their exploits in League Two, and what this result and the replay will mean for them.

It's a very good 1-0 win to keep the Reds apace with Chelsea while simultaneously putting a gap between us and City. We look back at a game lacking in many chances and focus a little on the moves and counter moves that both teams used to keep each other at bay. Defensive solidity from the Reds helped secure the victory, along with goal shy play from City, which seems to be a theme this season. And still the Reds march on!

Liverpool eventually got their wits about them to ride out what seemed in the end a relatively easy game. However, it didn't start that way. We look back at the game and react to the the goals and play, while touching on some special topics including Joe Allen, the Stoke defence, LFC running and a look ahead to our game against City. Kaylon hosts this show with Kam Brainch and Martin Hansen as guests.

As Liverpool painted the city red after derby day victory, so then do we have an all Red panel to celebrate the victory. Incredible joy all round after the game, but we did manage to squeeze in some talk about Gini's MOTM performance, how Origi and Firmino seem to be swapping, great games from Klavan and Lovren, the goal (of course) as well as that horror tackle from Barkley. Merseyside is RED!

Kay welcomes Grizzly Khan and Andrew Ord (@uptheborofm) onto Face Off for the Middlesbrough game! It's back to winning ways for LFC at a ground where not much has gone right in the past. Three goals, three points and great performance all achieved to bring the smile back to LFC fans faces. Topics include Middlesbrough's good start, Liverpool's sumptuous goal and excellent second half along with a slightly disappointing second period of the game for the home team. Player focus includes Lallana, Mignolet and Klavan for LFC, and Traore, Valdes and Gibson for Middlesbrough.

Another breathless game, and unfortunately another undesirable result as the reds lose more ground to the front runners. Kay, Sean Whetstone and Kam Brainch takes a serious look at the Liverpool performance and their failure to capitalise on an early goal, with question marks raised over the LFC defence once again, the keeper in particular. West Ham also had their fair share of defensive issues, but perhaps a return to form for talisman Payet, and maybe some good indications of an improved defence in the second half for the hammers.
