The Anfield Index Global Pod takes on the relatively new field of Sports Psychology! Sri, Roy and Kaylon are joined by PhD student, Andrew Vincent, to introduce the topic to the Global audience. The discussion opens up with a general introduction to the discipline, as well as its major current approaches and modalities. We spend quite a bit of time discussing issues related to individual psychology, including mental toughness, the concept of flow and motivation amongst other things. We then move on to talk about how Sports Psychology can help enhance the team aspect of the game, before looking at it's applications within management. Finally, we discuss whether fans and the media have a possible role to play. Keep an eye out for Part 2 in this series.
