Episode 180: Savage Boo-Boy
Trev Downey and Kam Brainch team-up again to bring you the 180th Anfield Index Podcast. As ever, the chat is lively and varied with the lads giving their perspective on topics as diverse as the goalkeeping situation, the treatment of Raheem Sterling, the Anfield atmosphere and the immense recent contributions of both Alex Oxlade Chamberlain and Emre Can. Of course, this being the show it is, Trev and Kam veer out of LFC territory to discuss tea drinking etiquette and the optimal cut on a pair of trousers. We even have the startling revelation that Mr. Brainch is, in fact, both a Zara fan AND a “horrible man.”
Episode 179: Ballers & Fake Little Men
In the first Anfield Index Podcast of 2018, Trev Downey and his regular buddy-cop duo of Karl ‘Riggs’ Coppack and Kam ’Murtaugh’ Brainch adopt a no-nonsense approach to the topic of Phil Coutinho’s departure. It’s controlled anger with Murtaugh but you never know what that Riggs will do or say, so be warned… Things take a turn for the joyful with a celebration of the wonder that is Big Virgil, there’s some chat about how best to cope with the unbeaten City at the weekend and there’s even some entertaining talk about the handbags between Mourinho and Conte. A resounding return for the lads and well worth your aural attention.
Episode 178: Pigs In Blankets
On tonight’s somewhat festive show Trev Downey, aided and abetted as ever by Karl Coppack and Kam Brainch, runs the rule over the last two, immensely disappointing run-outs for The Reds. The Skype gremlins did their best to sabotage the lads’ efforts, as did Kam with his incessantly vibrating phone, BUT the conversation embraced a heady mix of topics ranging from the major points of controversy over the last 180 minutes at Anfield, to the potential of Jurgen’s boys for the rest of the campaign to the tragic lack of choice available in the bleak children’s television scheduling of the 1970s. It is, as it always is, bloody good fun.
Episode 177: Killer Bob
Trev Downey is confused by numbers in tonight’s show but it’s alright because an oddly aggressive Kam Brainch and a chianti quaffing Karl Coppack are on hand, as ever, to steer him safely through the confusing cocktail of facts and figures that have accrued from the last three Reds’ outings. The lads ponder topics as varied as the Ballon d’Or nominees, the ongoing Coutinho confusion, the potential opposition in the Champions League round of 16 and the likeable but unnerving personality of Roberto Firmino.
Episode 176: Where Are My Eagles?
Trev Downey hosts the 176th episode of The Anfield Index Podcast with the able assistance of Karl Coppack and Kam Brainch. The conversation flows in the usual fashion between the three, as they tackle topics as varied as the disaster zone that is midfield, the manager’s attempts at misdirection, the great substitution debate and just why it is that Mark Hughes always seems so upset. As engaging a chat as ever and there’s even some bonus Brian Blessed and an anecdote involving Kam’s use of Punjabi to conceal his rudeness.
Episode 175: All In Their Heads
Trev Downey is joined by Karl Coppack and Kam Branch for another conversation about Reds-related shenanigans. Kam being in a carpark gives the pod a guerrilla feel and a rather odd background track as the three lads tackle the club’s statement on travelling fan welfare, the safe-standing debate, the horror show that was Liverpool’s 3-3 draw in Seville, the absence of testicular fortitude in the playing staff and the manager playing silly beggars about his side’s fragile mentality. It’s at times intense, at times hilarious and all to the accompaniment of boy racer engines in the background. Lovely.
Episode 174: Absolute Jazz IV
Trev Downey names an unchanged line-up of Karl Coppack and Kam Brainch, as the lads discuss Karl’s celebrity chums, Phil Coutinho’s plans for self-improvement, the interesting side-effects of Jürgy’s lurgy, whether or not Adam Lallana will be a starter in midfield, the unfathomable awfulness of Tim Sherwood and Kam’s very intimate wardrobe revelations. There’s even some bonus Kenny chat and and a standard Trev namedrop. Marvellous.
Episode 173: Comic Relief - It's back!
The Anfield Index Podcast returns, after a brief hiatus, with Trev Downey joined by Karl Coppack and Kam Brainch in an enjoyably light-hearted look at topics as varied as the nature of modern captaincy, the progress of Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, that orange kit, the highs and lows of international breaks and the three lads' shared affection for 80s football comics. The easy-going way to get your fix of The Reds.
Episode 172: The Memory Index - Swapcast with The Memory Palace
Host Trev Downey met his Twitter buddy Nate Di Meo, who was visiting Dublin to perform a live version of his successful and critically acclaimed Radiotopia podcast, The Memory Palace. As well as being the creator of Trev’s favorite show, Nate just happens to be a Liverpool fan and in a wide ranging conversation the lads discussed the American fan experience, The Reds past and present and FSG, a group Nate is very familiar with as a lifelong Boston Red Sox fanatic. A lovely way to spend an hour of your international football-enforced LFC downtime.
Episode 171 - Solid Citizens
Host Trev Downey names an unchanged line-up of Karl Coppack and Neil Poole to take on the fall-out from the transfer window, the Can contract, the Coutinho situation and the upcoming Barclay's and Gazprom delights against Manchester City and Sevilla. As ever, fun is had and footy is talked.
Episode 170 - Paris Keita
Host Trev Downey gets the old band back together as Karl Coppack and Neil Poole return to reflect on a mad few days for The Mad Reds. It’s footy Crimbo Eve and there has been lots of activity under the Melwood tree but are the notoriously old-school trio content with their pressies?
Episode 169 - Old Boys Network
Host Trev Downey lights some candles and cranks up the Barry White for an intimate one-on-one episode with Karl Coppack. The two lads discuss the joy of having a Scouser starring in the first team, the scandalous attire and snarky comments of Julian Nagelsmann, the Coutinho and Van Dijk developments, Jean Michael Seri's chilblains and how they could both probably still "do a job" if Jürgen's transfer window collapses
Episode 168 - Nobbin' Around
Football is finally back and host Trev Downey is joined by the returning Neil Poole and has temporarily coaxed Jim Fishlock out of retirement to discuss the way the team will line up and the options available to Jürgen Klopp with 5 games in 15 days. It's upbeat and yet realistic stuff from the three lads, all of whom are buzzing for the big kick-off.
