Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has said he is looking for his players to focus on the game and ignore the typical media circus that surrounds the Premier League’s greatest rivalry.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Klopp discussed the hype which always surrounds the United v Liverpool fixtures every season and his wish for his players to concentrate on their football.

“I cannot write your stories – we are just preparing for a football game.

“We cannot make the game bigger because it is a decisive moment.

“We all have to show we are ready for the game and win it. That is difficult, but it is possible. There is so much talk before football games but we have to play it.

“We have to concentrate on football. We are a well-organised team with a lot of potential.”

The Reds face an uphill task at Old Trafford with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer having turned United’s fortunes around since taking over from Jose Mourinho.

Sunday’s match is Liverpool’s game in hand over Manchester City and a win would restore a three-point lead for The Reds at the top.
