Predicting Liverpool’s lineup for Villa Park clash on Saturday

Liverpool return to Premier League action this Saturday with a tricky trip to play Dean Smith’s Aston Villa side at Villa Park. We’ve had a look at The Reds’ possible starting lineup.

Jurgen Klopp rested all of The Reds’ regular starters for Wednesday night’s incredible 5-5 Carabao Cup draw with Arsenal at Anfield.

Liverpool have three players who will definitely miss Saturday’s game with Aston Villa. Nathaniel Clyne, Xherdan Shaqiri and Joel Matip are all out injured.

I think Dejan Lovren will get the nod to start at centre-back alongside Virgil van Dijk. Van Dijk, himself, suffered a dead leg against Spurs but he should be fine for Saturday.

Alisson will continue in goals with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson on either side of the back four.

Klopp has a tough decision to make in midfield where Fabinho is only one yellow card away from a one-game suspension. Therefore, if he plays and is booked against Villa, he will miss Liverpool’s huge clash with Manchester City the following weekend.

I think Fabinho might not be risked and Klopp could opt to play Gini Wijnaldum at the base of the midfield with Jordan Henderson and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain just ahead of him.

In attack, Liverpool should be at full strength with Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mané all fit to start.

Salah did go off with an ankle problem in last weekend’s win over Spurs but Klopp said he was fine during the week.
