Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says that Virgil van Dijk and Gini Wijnaldum could still feature against Flamengo in Saturday’s Club World Cup final in Qatar.
The Reds’ boss disclosed that both players had taken part in training today (Friday). However, Klopp’s medical staff will make a final assessment on the players’ availability on Saturday ahead of the game.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Klopp said:
“We will see.
“Virg was part of training today, Gini had a session today. We will see how it will look at the end. We have no new injury concerns.
“How you can imagine, it was Wednesday night when we played and now it’s Friday, so we use each hour for recovery and all that stuff. That’s what we did and we will see who we can line up tomorrow.”
Liverpool and Flamengo meet for the first time since their Intercontinental Cup clash back in 1981. That game finished in a 3-0 win for the Brazilian champions in Tokyo.
Klopp and his Redmen are out to make history and become the first-ever Liverpool team to win the Club World Cup title.
