Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott declared it was the fulfilment of a dream to score his first goal for Jürgen Klopp’s side last weekend at Anfield.
The tricky young winger replaced Mohamed Salah in the 62nd minute against Blackpool on Saturday. Elliott scored just five minutes later after a great through ball from Divock Origi.

Elliott also provided an assist in the final minutes for young centre-back Sepp van den Berg as the Dutch defender rounded off Liverpool’s scoring in the 7-2 win.
Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com after the game, Elliott said:
“It was great, to be honest, to score for my boyhood club.
“It has been a dream ever since I was a little boy.
“Like I said, it’s a dream come true. But I just need to keep going and keep putting in the performances, as we did in the second half. Hopefully, many more opportunities will come.”
Elliott also discussed his hopes for the season ahead and the not-too-distant future at LFC under Klopp.
“I see my main goal is to get in the team, get a few appearances here and there.
“As you can see, it’s a very hard team to get into, there’s a lot of world-class players here.
“But even just the experiences around, training with these guys every day and being around the coaching staff every day, it’s just a dream come true.
“So, any opportunity I get, I’m very grateful for. Hopefully, I can prove to the gaffer that I can live up to the standards.”
The young attacker will be hoping to make Klopp’s matchday squad for Liverpool’s first game of the season this weekend against Leeds United at Anfield.
The Reds kick-off against Marcelo Bielsa’s newly-promoted side at 17:30 UK time on Saturday as they look to win a second Premier League title in a row.
