Liverpool finally look like they’re going to secure the signature of FC Bayern’s world-class midfielder Thiago Alcântara after one of the most drawn-out transfer sagas in recent years.
This morning, news reports broke claiming that the deal was just about completed with Liverpool agreeing to pay the €30 million price-tag FC Bayern had put on Thiago.
The Reds had hoped to bring the figure down seeing as Thiago was entering the final year of his contract with the Bundesliga champions. However, with Jürgen Klopp pushing for the deal to be done, Liverpool will now go ahead with the €30 million Bayern Munich were looking for.
Liverpool will pay £20m guaranteed plus £5m in bonuses to Bayern for Thiago Alcantara. Player will sign a four year deal and wear the No6 jersey.

Spain international Thiago is the son of former Brazilian midfielder Mazinho and the brother of Rafinha who is still on the books at Barcelona.
He was a product of the Barcelona youth setup and played for the first-team under Pep Guardiola. After Guardiola joined FC Bayern in 2013, he made Thiago one of his first signings, bringing the midfielder to the Bundesliga.
Speaking about the move at the time, Guardiola said:
“I spoke to the club and told them about my concept and told them why I want Thiago. He is the only player that I want. It will be him or no one.”
Thiago arrives at Anfield a serial winner. There is no other apt description for the player whose technical ability, fantastic vision and never-say-die attitude will make him an instant hit among Reds fans the world over.
