Nunez Sidelined: A Blow for Liverpool’s Frontline
Emerging Liverpool hitman, Darwin Nunez, is currently nursing an unexpected injury, having been a no-show during the squad’s journey to the King Power Stadium. In a surprise twist, the issue surfaced following a seemingly normal training session.
Klopp Sheds Light on Nunez’s Injury
The Anfield gaffer, Jurgen Klopp, commented pre-match, “Yesterday we trained and he looked OK and then after training he said he feels something in his foot, in his big toe”.
Klopp added, “we had to make a decision yesterday about the squad and we did that, so he was not involved.”
Despite the setback, Nunez’s spirit remains unbroken. Klopp spotted him lending support to his teammates, despite his unavailability.
Addressing speculation over the injury’s potential to keep Nunez off the pitch for the rest of the season, Klopp assuaged fans’ fears. “No, I don’t think so, the session didn’t look like that but after the session he felt it more than before and so we have to assess that in more detail,” he confirmed.
Liverpool and Nunez are sure to be keenly awaiting the results of a detailed assessment and hopeful the Uruguayan forward will be available for the Reds’ final two matches against Aston Villa and Southampton.
