Another example of me having two, even three, good options in certain positions,” Slot added. Luis Diaz has had a notable start to the season, and many are beginning to see his potential as a consistent goal scorer. Slot was asked if he has done anything specifically to boost Diaz’s productivity in front of goal, to which he responded, “I don’t think so, not particularly with him.”

He continued by noting that while the team works on tactics in training, much of the credit belongs to the players themselves. “In the final third of the pitch, it’s about the quality of the players and the finishing he has. I think he always had this. For me, he was always someone who can score a goal.” Diaz’s tally of eight goals last season was, in Slot’s view, below the Colombian’s true capability, suggesting that the winger could achieve much more this campaign.

Defensive Concerns and Improvement

Despite Liverpool’s attacking prowess, concerns have been raised about the defensive chances they’ve allowed in recent matches. Slot acknowledged these issues and stressed the need for improvement. He explained, “In an ideal world, we don’t concede as many as we did in the last two games.”

He went on to highlight the quality of Premier League opposition, emphasising that every team Liverpool face is capable of creating chances. “If there’s one big difference for me between my former club and the competition I worked in and this competition, it’s that every team has so many quality players in their squad and in their team,” Slot noted.
