Liverpool 0–1 Arsenal – Premier League Man of the Match
Jérémy Jacquet – Liverpool FC
Liverpool may have come away from Anfield empty-handed, but there were plenty of positives in a performance that deserved at least a point. Against a well-drilled Arsenal side, the Reds worked tirelessly, competed throughout and were unfortunate to see their efforts go unrewarded.
One player who stood out above the rest was young French defender Jérémy Jacquet, who delivered an outstanding individual performance at the heart of Liverpool’s defence.
Jeremy Jacquet is genuinely one of the best things to happen to Liverpool in a long time. The boy is ridiculously composed and solid for his age.
Liverpool might have to compensate Lille again because they've found an absolute gem of a defender.

A Defensive Display Full of Authority
I Jacquet a solid rating, the highest of any Liverpool player, and it was thoroughly deserved. His performance was built around aggression, anticipation and an impressive willingness to defend on the front foot.
He repeatedly stepped out of the defensive line to engage Arsenal’s attackers, firing into challenges high up the pitch and refusing to allow his opponents time and space to settle. His recovery pace was equally important, covering ground quickly and snapping into tackles when Arsenal looked to exploit openings.
The young Frenchman also dominated his individual battles, winning aerial duels and showing the composure needed against one of the league’s most accomplished attacking sides. His second-half performance was particularly impressive, as he continued to attack the ball and win his duels.
There were other strong performances in red. Ronald Araújo was a commanding presence, particularly after the interval, while Virgil van Dijk marshalled the backline with his usual authority. Alisson Becker also produced a superb low save in the second half to keep Liverpool in the contest, although his earlier wayward pass had contributed to the opportunity that led to Arsenal’s goal.
In midfield, Alexis Mac Allister worked tirelessly and came close with a powerful header, while Florian Wirtz gradually grew into the game and became increasingly influential in Liverpool’s attacking play.
Liverpool’s attacking players found it difficult to deliver the decisive moment. Alexander Isak was unlucky not to equalise after being pulled back as he attempted a close-range header, while Bradley Barcola and Cody Gakpo struggled to provide the final product.
Ultimately, Arsenal left Anfield with the points, but Liverpool should take encouragement from their response and work rate. They competed, pressed and pushed for an equaliser against difficult opposition.
Jacquet was the standout performer, showing maturity and defensive quality beyond his years. On this evidence, he looks an exciting prospect for Liverpool’s future.
