Arne Slot Facing Selection Headache Ahead of Liverpool vs Nottingham Forest
Liverpool return from international duty on Saturday when they face Nottingham Forest at Anfield.
After five defeats in their last six league games, Arne Slot’s side will be looking to put a run of consistent results together over the festive period.
However, any early enthusiasm about the return to domestic football has already taken a blow.
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s game, Slot ruled out both Conor Bradley and Florian Wirtz through injury. Whilst Wirtz is out with just a minor issue, Bradley is expected to be out for at least three weeks.
With Jeremie Frimpong sidelined for roughly the same amount of time, Slot is facing a major selection headache.
Giovanni Leoni’s ACL injury also adds another layer of frustration, leaving Liverpool with just three fit centre-backs in Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez.
The obvious solution at right-back would be to deploy Gomez out there, which he has done a lot in the past. However, there could be another solution…
Calvin Ramsay set for second chance?
After beign plagued by injuries and not featuring for the first-team in over two years, the Scottish full-back started in the 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup.
Despite the brutal scoreline, he was actually one of the only positives from that night. He looked fit and very comfortable on the ball.

With both Frimpong and Bradley sidelined and no room for error in the centre-back department, Slot might just turn to the 22-year-old vs Nottingham Forest.
Even if Gomez is used at right-back, you’d expect to see the youngster named on the bench for the first time in the Premier League this season.
Losing Bradley is, of course, a devastating blow. But with it comes an opportunity and a lifeline for the young defender.
