As Aaron Ramsey prepares to sign on the dotted line for Italian Serie A giants Juventus, it appears Liverpool and Manchester United both decided against approaching the Welsh midfielder due to salary expectations.

According to the Evening Standard, Ramsey is to sign a pre-contract agreement with I Bianconeri in the next 24 hours. The deal will see the 28-year-old midfielder join Juventus at the end of this current season when his Arsenal contract finally expires.

Ramsey has spent 11 years at The Gunners, having been signed from Cardiff City in 2008 by Arsene Wenger. He will reportedly become the highest paid British player in history thanks to his £400k per week earnings in Turin.

Liverpool were rumoured to be interested in Ramsey since news broke that he would most likely not be signing a contract extension at the Emirates Stadium under new Arsenal boss Unai Emery.

United’s interest is expected to have primarily come from Jose Mourinho so, well, you know…

Ramsey certainly plays like a player who would suit a Jurgen Klopp system with his rare combination of excellent technical ability, determination and high energy levels. The former Cardiff City man would suit Liverpool’s high pressing game and fit in seamlessly to The Reds’ swift attacking movements.

As it stands, however, it looks as if Liverpool fans will not be seeing Aaron Ramsey in the red jersey anytime soon.
