Liverpool could potentially benefit from a Manchester City fixture change
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool could benefit greatly from a fixture change in Manchester City’s schedule as the Premier League title race hots up in the final months of the season.
Manchester City’s FA Cup progression after their 4-1 victory at Newport County on Saturday means that Pep Guardiola’s men will now have to reschedule their Manchester derby fixture.
City’s meeting with United at Old Trafford was originally pencilled in for the weekend of March 16th but will now most likely be pushed back into April, as reported in the Liverpool Echo.
Liverpool travel to Old Trafford themselves next Sunday when they will play their game in hand just before City take to the pitch against Chelsea in the League Cup final later that afternoon.
The earliest City’s rescheduled Manchester derby can be played is in April so it could be pushed back quite close to the end of the season to add more drama to the Premier League’s TV broadcast schedule.
