Gini Wijnaldum believes Liverpool should be confident of scoring away goal against FC Bayern

Liverpool midfielder Gini Wijnaldum claims he is not worried after The Reds failed to make home advantage count with a 0-0 draw against FC Bayern.

Liverpool and Bayern Munich played out a stalemate at Anfield on Tuesday night in a game where Liverpool’s midfield trio of Jordan Henderson, Gini Wijnaldum and Naby Keita did The Reds proud with a battling, energetic display.

However, Liverpool could not make their chances pay in the final third and, in the end, had to settle for a clean sheet and a 0-0 scoreline to bring with them to the Allianz Arena for the second leg.

Wijnaldum believes Liverpool are still very much in the tie, though. The Dutch international midfielder, speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, gave his overall view on his side’s performance and their hopes for the return fixture.

“We played a good first half. The second half was OK, we created chances, unfortunately, we didn’t score a goal. We were not lucky with the chances. But the good thing is we didn’t concede.

“The last pass we gave was not that good. Sometimes you have those kinds of games – that you don’t score the chances you have or not give the final pass well. We have to deal with it.

“The way we are playing we have the quality to create chances [in the second leg]. That’s why I’m happy we didn’t concede.

“I’m not really worried about scoring goals because we already showed we can do it in games before. We just have to do it again there. Hopefully we have a little bit more luck with the chances and hopefully, we win.”

Next up for The Reds is the small matter of a trip to Old Trafford where Jurgen Klopp and his team will be looking to keep their Premier League title charge on track. It’s a huge couple of weeks for The Reds.
