Predicting how The Reds will line out against Chelsea this Sunday

Liverpool face Chelsea at Anfield this Sunday in another huge game in the Premier League title race. We’ve had a look at just how Jurgen Klopp’s Reds might line out for the game.

The great news for Liverpool fans everywhere is that there does not appear to be any new injury concerns for Klopp to deal with.

Adam Lallana and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are the only players who may not be available for selection as part of the matchday squad. However, it’s possible that they both will be passed fit enough by Sunday.

Lallana is recovering from a slight muscle issue and could be back. Oxlade-Chamberlain is still continuing his comeback after a year out so his reintroduction to first-team action will be far more gradual.

Joe Gomez made the substitutes bench for Liverpool’s 2-0 Champions League win over FC Porto during the week so he’s not far from being ready to start again. Joel Matip should return in central defence alongside Virgil van Dijk for now, though. Matip was rested for the Porto game with Dejan Lovren deputising in his place.

I think the midfield trio will consist of Fabinho at the base with Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum just ahead of him. Henderson, in particular, has been enjoying a more advanced role in recent games and I think Klopp will stick with the captain on Sunday. Naby Keita and James Milner will most likely be on the bench from the start.

Up front, it’s the usual suspects of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mané.

Predicted Liverpool lineup for Chelsea game on Sunday: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Henderson(c), Wijnaldum; Salah, Firmino, Mané
