Liverpool are back in action again on Saturday when they travel to play Southampton at St Mary’s in the Premier League.
Jurgen Klopp’s men went through 120 minutes of football on Wednesday night in Istanbul so if they can manage to take all three points from Saturday’s game it will be job very well done indeed.
Adrian, hopefully, will be fit to start after being injured when an eager Liverpool fan slid into the team’s on-pitch celebrations after winning the UEFA Super Cup against Chelsea. Adrian’s ankle is apparently swollen so it’s touch-and-go regarding his fitness.
In defence, Joe Gomez had a tough night at right-back against Christian Pulisic on Wednesday but he will still more than likely start at Southampton. However, he should be back in his preferred central-defensive role alongside Virgil van Dijk.
Fabinho was out on his feet by the end of the Super Cup game in Turkey. He endured some bouts of cramp during extra-time as well. I think Klopp will probably try to save Fabinho’s legs by giving Gini Wijnaldum a start in the ‘6’ role. Jordan Henderson and James Milner could make up the rest of the midfield trio.
The frontline will probably be at full strength with Roberto Firmino expected to start. Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mané will take their places on either side of the Brazilian international.
