Player Ratings as Liverpool Topple Leicester City

The Reds keep marching on after a dramatic 95th-minute penalty from James Milner sealed all 3 points. Liverpool should have had the game wrapped up much earlier but wasted a number of opportunities, allowing Leicester the chance to level late on. However, it was a thoroughly deserved win which will undoubtedly boil the piss of the rest of the Premier League, so that’s nice, isn’t it?

Adrian – 5

Was decent up until the goal, but you can’t be letting those kinds of shots get past you.

Trent – 7

Brilliant in the first half and created big chances for Firmino and Milner. Second half wasn’t so impressive as his crossing began to let him down.

Lovren – 7

Wasn’t an easy game to come into cold but Lovren did very well. A couple of important headed clearances and a crucial tackle on Jamie Vardy saw him produce a fine performance.

Van Dijk – 6

Was good up until the Maddison goal where he should probably do a bit more to prevent the ball from reaching the Leicester man. Should arguably have had a goal himself at the other end, too.

Robertson – 6

Pretty good defensively but very disappointing going forward. Wasteful in possession and looked devoid of ideas at times.

Fabinho – 6.5

Another decent performance from the Brazilian. Could perhaps have done more to stop Perez playing the pass to Maddison for the Leicester goal, though.

Wijnaldum – 6.5 (Off for Henderson on 78 mins)

Allowed Trent to get forward often which led to him creating big chances but sadly was his usual self in the final third. Made good use of his arse on numerous occasions.

Milner – 8

Started the game rather shakily but grew into and played one of the passes of the season to create Mane’s goal on 40 mins. He also came in incredibly clutch as he slotted away a 95th-minute penalty to give us all three points. The balls on that man are enormous.

Salah – 6 (Off for Lallana on 92 mins)

Not his greatest game but still managed to give Soyuncu the run around a few times. The Turk appeared to be doing his best Harry Maguire impression as he got rolled time and time again by the Egyptian. He was very wasteful throughout, though which could well have cost us a couple of points. Went off very late with an injury after a frankly disgusting tackle by Hamza Choudhury which should have seen the Leicester man receive his marching orders, however he only saw yellow. Fingers crossed it’s not too serious for Mo.

Firmino – 6 (Off for Origi on 78 mins)

Also had a pretty wasteful afternoon. Missed a big chance in the first half and was not as sharp on the ball as you’d expect him to be in terms of creativity.

Mane – 7.5

Scored yet another goal with a lovely finish after a delightful James Milner pass. Was deployed on the right for a lot of the game and also got stuck in defensively when needed. He also managed to win our first penalty in front of the Kop since 1978 which led to us winning all 3 points. Another man with gigantic balls.

Henderson – 6 (On for Wijnaldum on 78 mins)

He comes on and we concede straight away, I think that says it all. In all seriousness, though, I barely noticed him, so I’ve just given him a 6.

Origi – 6 (On for Firmino on 78 mins)

Looked pretty lively again and you’d think with the Salah injury he’ll be getting a few starts should the injury keep the Egyptian out past the end of the international break. He probably deserves some more minutes, to be fair to him.

Lallana – 6 (On for Salah on 92 mins)

Is unfortunately not named Naby Keita.
