Klopp discusses Naby Keita injury in aftermath of Carabao Cup clash with Arsenal
Liverpool progressed to the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup after an incredible night of football at Anfield. However, the only negative could be another injury for midfielder Naby Keita.
The League Cup last-sixteen encounter ended in an amazing 5-5 draw with Liverpool then going on to win 5-4 on penalties.
Naby Keita was taken off after 55 minutes of the game when it looked like he had suffered another injury after falling.
Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com after the match, Klopp said:
“If Naby’s injury is not so serious, which I hope, then it was a nearly perfect night.
“He felt a little bit. I saw it, he slipped when he lost the ball. He slipped away, I saw him limping afterwards and that’s why we did it.”
Keita has endured what could only be described as a stop-start career since his arrival on Merseyside in the summer of 2018 from RB Leipzig.
When Liverpool’s number 8 has managed to stay fit for a decent period of time, he has looked good for The Reds, helping to break the lines between midfield and attack and move the ball forward in games Liverpool would otherwise have struggled to do so.
It seems Lady Luck is not smiling down on Keita these days and he needs that to change if he wants to become a first-team regular under Jurgen Klopp.
