Liverpool play Brighton in the Premier League at Anfield this weekend. We’ve had a look at what Jurgen Klopp’s starting eleven might be for the game.
With the news that Fabinho is expected to miss most of December, Klopp needs to find a fast solution to that midfield problem for what is going to be the busiest month of Liverpool’s season.
Fabinho was already suspended for the Brighton game so he would not have played on Saturday, injured or not. However, the ankle injury he sustained against Napoli means The Reds need to find a medium-term solution, rather than just a short-term one.
Personally, I think Gini Wijnaldum is best suited to filling Fabinho’s role at the base of Liverpool’s midfield. I would not like to see Jordan Henderson moved back to play the ‘6’. Therefore, on Saturday, the midfield trio will probably be Wijnaldum, Henderson and, hopefully, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
Naby Keita is another good option but his lack of match fitness and recent game-time means Oxlade-Chamberlain is most likely to start.
In defence, Trent Alexander-Arnold will return to the starting lineup. Dejan Lovren and Virgil van Dijk will partner up in the centre while Andrew Robertson holds his position at left-back.
The front three should be our strongest three – Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mané.
Predicted Liverpool lineup (4-3-3) Vs Brighton: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Lovren, Van Dijk, Robertson; Wijnaldum, Henderson, Oxlade-Chamberlain; Salah, Firmino, Mané
