Liverpool travel to London to take on Jose Mourinho’s Spurs side this Saturday evening in the Premier League. We’ve had a look at what we think will be Jurgen Klopp’s starting lineup for the game.
Klopp’s injury-list has quite a few important names on it at the moment. The good news, however, is that most of the players are close to returning and there are no long-term injury concerns at the moment. Dejan Lovren, Naby Keita, James Milner, Fabinho and Nathaniel Clyne are all out while Joel Matip and Xherdan Shaqiri will face late fitness tests before the game.
Thankfully, Joe Gomez has rediscovered his early 2018/19 form alongside Virgil van Dijk at the heart of The Reds’ defence. It will be difficult for Matip or Lovren to force their way back into the starting lineup when fit, such is the level of performance regularly shown by Gomez in recent weeks.
Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson were both rested for last weekend’s FA Cup win over Everton so will be chomping at the bit for this match.
In midfield, Jordan Henderson will hopefully be able to continue his impressive form in the ‘6’ role in Fabinho’s absence. Ahead of him, with Milner and Keita both out, expect Gini Wijnaldum and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to start. Adam Lallana and derby-hero, Curtis Jones, will be the midfield options off the bench.
Liverpool’s frontline should be at full strength, meaning Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and the newly-crowned 2019 African Player of the Year, Sadio Mané, will take to the field.
Liverpool’s predicted lineup (4-3-3) Vs Spurs: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Wijnaldum, Oxlade-Chamberlain; Salah, Firmino, Mané
