Liverpool appear to be handed boost regarding potential signing of Timo Werner
Liverpool’s pursuit of RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner seems to be well on track according to reports in Spain.
It’s claimed that Italian club Internazionale were told a deal was close to completion with The Reds after Antonio Conte’s team enquired about signing the German international striker.
As reported by Sport.es, Inter Milan made an enquiry about a potential swoop for Werner. However, they were told a deal with Liverpool was close to being signed and there would be little chance they could gazump Jürgen Klopp’s side.
It’s believed Conte views Werner as an ideal signing to replace Lautaro Martínez who is believed to be on his way to Spanish giants Barcelona.
Werner made his desire to become a Liverpool player clear during some interviews during the 2019/20 season. With his ability to play wide on the left or through the centre for a front three, Werner possesses qualities Klopp values highly in his first-team players – adaptability and versatility.
It’s also rumoured that Liverpool signing Werner and loaning him back to RB Leipzig for a year is a distinct possibility.
It’s unclear how reliable these stories about Werner’s transfer situation are. As ever, please do take them with a pinch of salt.
