Liverpool are in good hands with captaincy duo Jordan Henderson and James Milner according to former Anfield star Gary McAllister.
McAllister spent two years at Liverpool after joining in July 2000, already aged 35. The former Leeds United star played a huge part in the treble-winning success of Gérard Houllier’s 2000/01 Liverpool team.
Now at Rangers as Steven Gerrard’s assistant manager, McAllister spoke to Liverpoolfc.com about the ultra-professional approach of Liverpool’s captain Henderson.
“You cannot speak highly enough of Jordan. He’s a fantastic guy around the place.
“I think what you see on a matchday is what you see every day on the training field.
“He’s always setting an example in how he navigates from Monday to Friday through the training, setting those standards and those levels. I’m really pleased for the guy.”
McAllister also has the utmost respect for “Leeds boy” Milner and how he has gone about his career, including the impact he has had at Anfield since joining on a free transfer in 2015.
“[Milner’s] been a fantastic signing. He’s obviously a Leeds boy and made his debut very early for Leeds United as well.
“He’s somebody that I’ve always kept an eye on and admired throughout his long career. Again, what you see is what you get.
“They’re two proper men.”
Such praise coming from an old pro like McAllister is not to be taken lightly. Hopefully, we’ll get to see Henderson raise the Premier League trophy in triumph sooner rather than later.
