Klopp's reaction after Liverpool beat Crystal Palace comfortably at Anfield

Liverpool moved three points closer to the club’s 19th league title success with a one-sided 4-0 win over Crystal Palace at Anfield on Wednesday night.

Jürgen Klopp couldn’t speak highly enough about the performance, claiming he “loved it”. Goals from Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah, Fabinho and Sadio Mané gave The Reds a very comfortable victory.

That win means Liverpool will be crowned champions if Manchester City fail to win at Chelsea tonight.

Speaking at his post-match press conference, Klopp did little to hide his delight at his side’s performance.

“We showed a lot, if not everything, what helped us into the position we are in now. There are obviously different ways of football, different ways you can play this game but you don’t have to compare it, so it’s not too important. What I saw tonight, I wanted to have that before this part of the season and I said to the boys, ‘I want to see actually the best behind-closed-doors football ever’. I’m not sure if it was the best football but it was, for sure, the best counter-pressing behind closed doors ever. The attitude we showed tonight, the passion we showed was exceptional and we played some outstanding football. The goals we scored were exceptional.”

Klopp also commented on how the players gave their all for the fans, even though Anfield was empty.

“… imagine this game would have had 55,000 people in the stadium and the emotions which would have then been in the stadium – that would’ve been incredible. But we cannot have that in the moment and so it was important that we showed our respect to people and that is what the boys did tonight. I loved it.”

If Manchester City do win at Chelsea then Liverpool can win the league at City next Thursday night by getting at least a draw.

Whatever happens over the next few games, Liverpool are once again the champions of England. The Reds are back up on their perch.
