Liverpool travel to face Brighton in the Premier League tonight with the aim of breaking Manchester City’s 100-points record haul still firmly in sight. We’ve had a look at the possible starting eleven for The Reds.

Jürgen Klopp’s side beat Aston Villa 2-0 on Sunday thanks to late goals from Sadio Mané and Curtis Jones. That three points will have gone some way towards banishing the memory of last Thursday’s 4-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City.

Tonight, Liverpool will be looking to get one of the four remaining victories they need – from five remaining games – to beat City’s 100-points Premier League record for a season.

Dejan Lovren and James Milner are to face late fitness tests with Milner on his way back after the hamstring injury he picked up against Everton in June. Lovren has been unavailable for the last two games so will be hoping to also make a return to the squad.

Joël Matip is now Liverpool’s only real injury concern. He suffered a foot injury in the 0-0 draw at Everton and will miss the rest of this season.

Alisson will continue in goals for The Reds. The Brazilian stopper has been in inspired form since the return to action in June.

The back four should be at full strength with Andy Robertson declaring himself fit earlier this week. Therefore, it should be Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk and Andy Robertson in defence.

Fabinho may be rested after starting all four matches in recent weeks. If Fabinho doesn’t start, I think Jordan Henderson will play the ‘6’ role at the base of the midfield with Gini Wijnaldum and Naby Keïta in front of him.

Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino should start in attack but Sadio Mané could well be on the bench, set to come on in the second half. In place of Mané, I believe Takumi Minamino could come into the starting eleven.

Predicted Liverpool lineup (4-3-3-) vs Brighton: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson, Wijnaldum, Keïta; Salah, Firmino, Minamino
