Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp gave an update on the general fitness of the first-team squad as The Reds prepare to face FC Midtjylland on Wednesday.

As it turns out, there was not much to report. This season, that has to be good news as we, as Liverpool fans, have become so accustomed to hearing of another injury to a first-team player after nearly every game.

Klopp was speaking in his pre-game press conference. He was asked for a general squad update. Klopp said:

“All the same like for the last game, so just a bigger squad obviously possible.

“We will travel with a full squad, which is really nice. Good. That’s how it is nowadays. So nobody is back but still good. We are getting there.”

Klopp was then asked if Wednesday’s fixture would see a much-changed starting eleven.

“We will see. It’s not unlikely but not decided yet.

“The job is to get in fresh legs, very important to get quality to change as much as you have to. It’s pretty much led not by me, it’s by the schedule.

“This game is Wednesday, which is of course absolutely fine, three days after the last game. The next game is on Sunday [against] Fulham, on Wednesday, Tottenham, Saturday 12.30 [at] Crystal Palace. That means in 10 days or so, four games. That’s massive and we have to consider that.”

Liverpool welcomed back Trent Alexander-Arnold and Naby Keïta to first-team action in Sunday night’s 4-0 win over Wolves. Both players came on in the second half of that win.

The Reds’ injury list still contains the names of Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk, Alisson Becker, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Thiago Alcântara, James Milner and Xherdan Shaqiri.
