Will this be Liverpool's starting lineup to play Burnley tonight at Anfield?
Liverpool and Burnley meet tonight in a Premier League clash at Anfield. We’ve had a look at the starting eleven Jürgen Klopp might opt for.
The Reds have now gone four league games without a win and they have failed to find the net in their last three matches.
Klopp is still without Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Kostas Tsimikas, Diogo Jota and Naby Keïta. The good news is that Joël Matip should be back.
Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Wednesday, Klopp confirmed that Matip is back in full training. He also gave an update on the status of Jota’s rehabilitation.
“So, first and foremost, Joel is in full training.
“Now we have to make a decision and we will see how that will be until tomorrow. Yesterday he trained completely normal.
“Diogo is still a few weeks away, I don’t know exactly how long but it will not be in the next one or two weeks. He needs time, the injury needs time.”
With Matip available for selection, Liverpool’s back four really should pick itself with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson in their usual roles on the flanks. Fabinho will certainly partner Matip in central defence as The Reds look to get back to winning ways.
After impressing in defence against Manchester United, captain Jordan Henderson will be keen to get back into midfield. He may be tasked with the ‘6’ role at the base of the central trio. Alongside Henderson in the middle, it’s likely to be Thiago Alcântara and Gini Wijnaldum.
The front line is likely to remain the same, despite the lack of goals, meaning starts for Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mané.
Predicted Liverpool lineup (4-3-3) vs Burnley: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Fabinho, Robertson; Henderson, Thiago, Wijnaldum; Salah, Firmino, Mané
