Liverpool’s Michael Edwards had quite a busy transfer deadline day on Monday. Let’s take a look at The Reds’ deals on the day.
During Sunday’s 3-1 win at West Ham, the story broke that Liverpool were closing in on a deal for Preston North End’s Ben Davies. The 25-year-old left-sided centre-half was a target for Celtic and it’s rumoured that the Scottish club was hoping to bring Davies north of the border.
The Davies deal sees Liverpool youngster Sepp van den Berg move in the opposite direction on loan – a valuable opportunity for the young Dutch defender to gain some much-needed first-team experience.

Davies completed his medical in Merseyside on Monday.
That wasn’t all, though. Transfer Deadline Day has often been a rather uneventful affair for Liverpool fans in recent years but Michael Edwards and co were very active this time around.
There was a rumoured deal for Marseille’s Croatian centre-back Duje Caleta-Car but the French club decided not to let the 24-year-old go just yet.
I don’t do much transfer stuff, so this is in keeping with my track record, but Duje Caleta-Car to Liverpool ain’t happening this window. I understand the interest was real but Marseille don’t want to sell him just yet.

After that, news filtered through that Liverpool had made contact with Bundesliga side Schalke over the possibility of a deal to bring Ozan Kabak to Anfield.
Liverpool pushed that signing through, bringing Kabak to the Premier League on an initial loan deal with an option to buy in the summer.

Liverpool also went to Portugal and made an offer to Sporting Braga for 21-year-old David Carmo but their bid was rejected by the Primeira Liga club.
