Liverpool and Chelsea meet tonight at Anfield in the Premier League. We’ve had a look at Jürgen Klopp’s likely starting lineup for this one.
Tonight’s game is a massive clash in terms of the race for a top-four finish in the Premier League.
Adrián put in a solid performance on Sunday as Liverpool won 2-0 at Sheffield United to bring an end to a four-game losing streak. Caoimhin Kelleher had still been injured while first-choice goalkeeper Alisson Becker was out on compassionate leave after the tragic death of his father in Brazil last week.
Alisson, however, is due to return to the starting lineup for Liverpool tonight. It’s unclear yet whether Kelleher will be on the bench or if Adrián will be the backup ‘keeper.
In defence, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson will be at right and left-back respectively. The centre-back pairing at Bramall Lane was Nat Phillips and Ozan Kabak. They played pretty well too. It seems that Fabinho is back available for selection against Chelsea. I think Klopp will opt for Kabak and Fabinho at the heart of the back four with Phillips on the bench.
The midfield trio is likely to remain the same with Gini Wijnaldum, Thiago Alcântara, and Curtis Jones starting. Jones was particularly impressive last time out and will be looking to stake his place for a regular starting place in the Liverpool first team.
Diogo Jota could be in the squad but is certainly not sharp enough to start against Chelsea. That means Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, and Sadio Mané will be the front three again tonight.
