Three Players Liverpool Should Target This Summer

It hasn’t been the title defence that many Liverpool fans would have been expecting at the start of the season, as Jurgen Klopp’s side are in a race to finish in the Champions League places. However, the Reds remain among the favourites to fight back next season, as they are considered by many of the leading sportsbooks as the second-favourites to win the Premier League next season.

Many fans will be looking for a Betfair promo code during the summer when betting on Liverpool next season, but which three signings should the club make in order to make sure that they have the best opportunity of regaining their title in 2021-22?

Ibrahima Konate

Liverpool have certainly had problems in the back four throughout the season, which have been heightened with the absence of Virgil van Dijk. The Dutchman is set to return in time for the start of next season, but there is still a feeling that the Reds need to find the central defender a reliable partner. Joe Gomez has had his fair share of injury problems, while Joel Matip could be one of the players that is sold in the summer to raise funds.

Ibrahima Konate from RB Leipzig has been a defender that the Reds have been linked with for the last year. The 21-year-old wins an average of 2.6 aerial duals per match and makes 1.4 interceptions. He is a pacey alternative and one that could seamlessly slot in alongside van Dijk. That’s one deal that is already done.

Renato Sanches

Georginio Wijnaldum looks almost certain to leave Anfield in the summer, which means that the Reds will be on the lookout for a new central midfielder. Klopp will be looking for a player that has the same abilities as the Dutchman, as Lille star Renato Sanches could be that player. The Portuguese star has enjoyed an excellent two seasons in Ligue 1, and looks to be finally living up to the potential that was promised during his stint at Bayern Munich.

Sanches could yet lead Lille to an unlikely Ligue 1 title this season at the expense of PSG. The Lille midfielder would present a well-rounded option for the Reds, as he has averaged 6.7 ball recoveries per game this season, and completes an average of 9.6 final third passes per game.

Raphinha

Liverpool’s problems in defence have been well documented this season, but they have also struggled at the top-end of the pitch. Mohamed Salah has been the only player to maintain the levels that he has set over the past couple of seasons, as he has scored 20 Premier League goals. Sadio Mane has scored just eight, while Roberto Firmino has scored six so far this season.

The front line needs refreshing. PSG’s Kylian Mbappe is a player that the Reds have been linked to for many years, but the transfer fee required looks unlikely to be something Liverpool are willing to pay this summer. Leeds United’s Raphinha is a player the Reds are reportedly keen on, and he has enjoyed an excellent debut season in the Premier League.
