Liverpool 3 - 0 Brentford - The Player Ratings
Alisson Becker – 7.0
A couple of good stops aside, it was pretty routine for the big Brazilian. Strong when collecting the ball, and another clean sheet.
Trent Alexander Arnold – 7.0
Looks like he’s missing is right hand partner Mo, and was sometimes forcing the cross into a crowded area. A solid overall game, but always difficult as a creator agonist such a low block. Standards are high for this one.
Andy Robertson – 7.5
Kept pushing and trying to create havoc. No real work of note in defence and a solid game. A good build towards Thursdays must win game, where is energy will be needed.
Virgil Van Dijk – 7.0
A routine game, if defensively uneventful. His presence demands organisation, and that was enough to ensure limited chances. Maybe should have scored, but as with every opposition team, he’s constantly surrounded in the box.
Joel Matip – 7.0
Another solid game, and especially pleasing given his torrid time in the reverse fixture. A mazy run as always was a joy to see. Probably needs a rest on Thursday.
Fabinho – 8.5
Able to be everything the midfield required. Dominated his zone, screened well and cut out passes to the highest degree. A goal to set things in motion, and it’s a lovely thing that’s being added to his game.
Jordan Henderson – 6.0
Better than most games recently, and not too much needed off ball. Tried to give balance, yet offered little on the ball.
Curtis Jones – 7.5
Looked intent on being a player that gave good dependability, in a midfield where opportunity is now in abundance. Looked to create on occasion, but this game was more about him showing he can be a tactical starting asset, and he did.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain – 7.0
A good game, with a goal to improve his confidence. The injury is as always a concern, and just as things are looking good, he could be out once again. Subbed
Diogo Jota – 6.5
A better game, in another different attack. Looked dangerous at times, and hopefully can see more space evident in the week. His impressive form this season has dipped slightly, but his importance is vital over the next few weeks. Subbed
Roberto Firmino – 7.5
Worked, hustled, pressed and gave a good showing. The partnership with Jota isn’t there yet, but hopefully that is coming. Subbed
Taki Minamino – 6.5
A goal can change everything, and looked far happier playing and dropping slightly deeper. A nice close range goal.
James Milner – 5.0
Needs to maintain this role as a game closer his final games.
Kaide Gordon – 5.5
More cameos please, unlucky in a one on one. Does he start Thursday ?
Jurgen Klopp – 8.5
Bounced back with some good selections. He chose to unleash Jones, and the managers trust should be thrust into this boy for the remainder of the season. There appeared more balance, and greater positive energy from the team. The Ox injury is a horrid sight, but Kaide Gordon now has an opening to impress.
