5 players you forgot that played for Liverpool

Liverpool football club has a reputation for fielding some of the world’s best-ever football players. Steven Gerrard, Luis Suarez, Michael Owen, Mohammed Salah and Fernando Torres are some of world football’s superstars to pull on the infamous red shirt.

However, for every few high-profile stars at Anfield, there are a few forgotten names who used to represent Liverpool.

  1. Victor Moses

Nigerian winger and wing-back Victor Moses enjoyed a lengthy Premier League career, mostly representing Chelsea during his decade in England’s top flight. But the Premier League and FA Cup winner also spent one loan season at Anfield during the 2013/14 season.

Moses joined Liverpool on loan from Chelsea for one season. Although, he made little impact, playing just 22 matches and making six Premier League starts.

  1. Brad Friedel

American shot-stopper Brad Friedel is well-known as a mainstay goalkeeper in the Premier League era. Despite spending the majority of his career at Blackburn between 2000 and 2008, Friedel’s entry into English football came through Liverpool.

In 1997, then red’s manager Roy Evans signed Friedel from Major League Soccer outfit Columbus Crew. But, across three seasons, Friedel never broke into the first team. He only made 25 Premier League appearances before moving on in 2000 and spending the next 15 seasons racking up over 540 appearances for Blackburn, Aston Villa, and Tottenham.

  1. Nuri Sahin

Nuri Sahin joined Liverpool on loan from Real Madrid in 2012 as one of Brendan Rodgers’ first signings. The former Bundesliga player of the year arrived on Merseyside with big potential.

However, the Turkish star could not fit into Rodgers’ squad and he struggled to adapt to the Premier League. Other than one star-studded performance against Norwich, where Sahin scored and assisted two, his loan spell was cut short. By January 2013, Sahin was back at Borussia Dortmund, where he spent the next six seasons.

  1. Peter Gulacsi

Fans of the Bundesliga will be fully aware of RB Leipzig’s number one Peter Gulacsi. The 31-year-old has been part of Leipzig’s setup since 2013, but his early days started at Liverpool.

Gulacsi joined Liverpool at the age of 18 and he was with the club for five years between 2008 and 2013. However, the Hungarian struggled to get regular game time and his time was mostly spent on the bench or on loan at lower league clubs, including Hereford United, Tranmere and Hull.

  1. Conor Coady

A born and bred Liverpudlian, England international Conor Coady was part of Liverpool for a long time. Despite early promise and potential, the centre back couldn’t get regular game time at Anfield. In fact, Coady only made two appearances for the Reds, with one from the bench in the 2012/13 Premier League season.

After moving on to Sheffield United in 2013, Coady has worked his way up through the lower leagues. He is now Wolves captain and a key player for the Midlands outfit.

Conclusion

Liverpool are certainly not struggling for form or big-name players this season, but many fans would love to see a prime Torres or Owen lead the attack or be ready on the bench to join them up front. It is a clear head-to-head end to the season between Liverpool and Man City, with City just slightly edging it as favourites with the bookies.

Many punters have put money down on Liverpool to pip City to the title, but City may just have the edge. Any Liverpool fans counting down to the end of the season may want to try an online game to pass the time before each match, such as first-person shooter games, battle royale games, and even live casino games. However, although you might get away with playing video games without any knowledge, it’s best to learn about live casino games before trying them out. Nevertheless, all these types of games will definitely help you pass the time when waiting for each match.
