Liverpool are set for an interesting January transfer window ahead, and Jurgen Klopp could be looking at strengthening his squad as they look to retain top-spot in the Premier League standings for the second-half of this year’s campaign.
One player that the Reds are reportedly keen on signing is Michael Olise, who has caught the eye with plenty of strong performances for Crystal Palace over the festive period in particular. The young Frenchman has chipped in with five goals and one assist from his nine appearances in the English top-flight. He only made his first start of the season in November, having picked up a hamstring injury that kept him out of action for the start of the 2023/24 league campaign.
It appears as though Olise’s impressive showings have caught the eye though, with Manchester United set to rival both Liverpool and Manchester City to a potential transfer agreement in the future. There is reportedly a release clause that could be activated in the summer, which could hint that Olise could be sticking around at Selhurst Park until the end of the season at least.
A move to Anfield could surely tempt the former Reading academy prospect though, especially since the Reds are top of the table, and in a strong run of form in the Premier League, which has seen them move to the summit ahead of Arsenal in recent weeks.
Speaking exclusively to MyBettingSites, John Barnes has issued his thoughts on Olise’s options heading through the January transfer window, and felt as though a move to Liverpool or Manchester City would be a more tempting option for the French youth international.
“Him going to United would be him going to a club full of disharmony and a lack of unity so he’s not going to go there and turn Manchester United around.
“United have a much bigger problem so players need to stop going there thinking they will solve the issues at the club.
“There’s a lack of togetherness, belief within the club from the players to the manager to the fans.
“Olise is a fantastic player and as I said, Liverpool and City could be interested in him too and those two clubs are a more likely destination for him. It’s a more attractive proposition because both clubs are stable unlike United.
“Olise would be a great signing for Manchester United, City and Liverpool.”
Only time will tell as to where Olise’s future lies, but if he can continue to impress with Crystal Palace and the French Under-21s team, then you’d imagine that it’ll only be a matter of time before he gets a move to a club competing at the highest level in the near future, and a move to Anfield with Jurgen Klopp’s men could be the ideal opportunity for the winger to take his game to the next level.
