Liverpool face Arsenal as Title Challenge Builds Momentum

Liverpool will be looking to take a huge leap in their pursuit of the Premier League title as they travel to face Arsenal. Jurgen Klopp’s side come into this one after an impressive 4-1 victory over Chelsea on Wednesday.

Dominik Szoboszlai, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson all continued their return from injury, whilst Conor Bradley continued his fine form to give Klopp a serious selection headache.

The Reds came out as 2-0 winners in the last meeting between the two sides in the FA Cup Third Round, with a goal from Luis Diaz silencing the Emirates crowd. However, this time the two meet in the Premier League and Liverpool could move eight points clear of the Gunners with a victory on Sunday.

Klopp’s Defence: Stick or Twist?

Alisson Becker will definitely start in goal as he looks to continue his charge towards the Premier League golden glove award. In front of him, Virgil Van Dijk and Ibou Konate will start at the heart of the defence after another fantastic performance during the week.

The two main talking points in terms of the defence come in the two full-back positions with Joe Gomez and Conor Bradley currently in fantastic form. Both Robertson and Alexander-Arnold could be fit enough to return to the side, but may have to be patient for their return to the side.

Many will remember how effective both Gomez and Bradley were in their duels against Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli back in January, which could be pivotal in Klopp’s team selection on Sunday.

Verdict: Alisson, Bradley, Konate, Van Dijk, Gomez

Klopp’s Best Midfield?

Liverpool’s midfield was absolutely magnificent on Wednesday and it’s arguably Klopp’s strongest midfield three on paper. The returns of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai added a whole new level of control and fluidity to Liverpool’s system.

Those two partnered with academy graduate Curtis Jones have seemingly formed a fantastic combination. Therefore, leaving Ryan Gravenberch and Harvey Elliott with a huge task to dislodge this current midfield three.

The trio will partner each other again on Sunday in a game where the midfield battle will be integral to getting a positive result.

Verdict: Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Jones

Firing Front-Three:

I struggle to see Cody Gakpo replacing any of Wednesday’s front three for Sunday’s game. Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz have all really stepped up since Mohamed Salah’s absence.

However, Jota did appear to pick up a slight knock in the first-half against Chelsea. If this issue causes any issues, then this would be the only way I can see Gakpo making it into Sunday’s lineup.

Verdict: Jota, Nunez, Diaz

Starting XI: Alisson, Bradley, Konate, Van Dijk, Gomez, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Jones, Jota, Nunez, Diaz

Bench: Kelleher, Quansah, Alexander-Arnold, Robertson, McConnell, Clark, Gravenberch, Elliott, Gakpo

Score Prediction- Arsenal 1-2 Liverpool
