Liverpool’s Huge Premier League Clash Against Man United: Who Makes Klopp’s Starting XI?

Sunday sees Liverpool take on arguably their biggest hurdle in their run-in for the Premier League title this season as they travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United. A victory for the Reds would maintain their spot at the top of the table and could even extend their lead at the top if results go their way on Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp’s side come into Sunday off the back of two home victories against Brighton and Sheffield United, despite fairly lacklustre performances. The returns of Curtis Jones and Andy Robertson will also give the German a headache in terms of selection, too.

With that in mind, here is our predicted starting lineup ahead of Sunday’s huge game…

Questions at the Back

Caoimhin Kelleher will definitely remain in goal on Sunday, whilst Alisson Becker continues his return to full fitness. Ahead of him, Virgil Van Dijk will start at the heart of the defence.

Van Dijk’s partner remains a talking point though, after Ibou Konate appeared to pick up a slight knock against Sheffield United. However, I don’t think it will be enough to rule the Frenchman out of this one, so he will partner the skipper once more.

Joe Gomez and Andy Robertson will partner each other as the full-backs after impressive performances on Thursday – meaning Conor Bradley and Kostas Tsimikas will take up spots on the bench.

Verdict: Kelleher, Gomez, Konate, Van Dijk (C), Robertson

Endo’s Return

After missing the victory over Sheffield United due to a slight knock, Wataru Endo will return to the base of Liverpool’s midfield. Therefore, the in-form Alexis Mac Allister will move back up to his more familiar position in the number eight role.

The final spot is definitely between Curtis Jones and Dominik Szoboszlai, but I think this game might just come too soon for Jones who has recently recovered from a nasty injury. Therefore, it will be Szoboszlai to partner Endo and Mac Allister in midfield.

Jones will join the likes of Harvey Elliott and Ryan Gravenberch in looking to make an impact from the bench.

Verdict: Endo, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai

Rested and Dangerous Mo Salah

Mo Salah was replaced in the 60th minute on Thursday, as Klopp managed his minutes for this game especially. The Egyptian King will undoubtedly start in his usual role on the right-wing.

The same can be said for both Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz, who will both keep their places in the starting lineup. Cody Gakpo and Jayden Danns will both be amongst the substitutes again and could provide some quality depth should Klopp need to use it.

Verdict: Salah, Nunez, Diaz

Starting XI: Kelleher, Gomez, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson, Endo, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Salah, Nunez, Diaz

Bench: Adrian, Quansah, Tsimikas, Bradley, Clark, Jones, Gravenberch, Elliott, Gakpo
