Liverpool Transfer Latest: Simons, Diaz and Szoboszlai in the Spotlight
Simons Link Gains Serious Momentum
On the latest episode of The Transfer Show podcast by Anfield Index, host Trev Downey and insider Dave Davis delved into the flurry of names linked with Liverpool as Arne Slot prepares for his first transfer window at the helm. One name that refuses to go away? Xavi Simons.
“Liverpool really like this player,” Davis admitted, before adding that multiple reliable sources had confirmed the club’s serious interest. Simons, currently on loan at RB Leipzig from PSG, is drawing increasing attention: “David Ornstein’s mentioned it… David Lynch… absolutely, Liverpool are having a good look at this player,” Davis continued.

Beyond his technical skill, it’s Simons’ versatility that excites the Liverpool hierarchy. “He could play the 10 and you could then drop Szoboszlai potentially down to the 8,” Davis revealed. That kind of tactical fluidity fits Arne Slot’s style and makes Simons a particularly attractive prospect. “He’s a marmite player for me,” Davis conceded, “but Javi Simons and Liverpool is a red-hot solid link from all the info we’ve got.”

Diaz Departure Feels Inevitable
While new faces are being eyed, the spotlight also falls on potential exits — notably Luis Diaz. Despite his relentless work rate and eye-catching goal against Crystal Palace, both Downey and Davis made clear that his future at Anfield is under serious question.
“Luis Diaz will walk out the door to Barcelona tomorrow if they open it,” Downey stated bluntly. Davis added weight to that claim: “We suspect Diaz is going… the only question is where does he fit in.”

The podcast acknowledged that Diaz still has admirers, but with wage demands rising and Liverpool sticking to their financial structure, the club may opt to sell while his value remains high.
Big Summer Incoming?
Talk of a ‘quiet window’ was quickly quashed. “This is a quote from Virgil van Dijk released today,” Davis highlighted: “I think they’re planning to make it a big summer.” He wasn’t alone. “Fabrizio Romano has said it. David Ornstein on CBS: Liverpool will be very busy in the market.”
However, expectations come with a caveat. “If it’s not a lot of action in and out, there’s an argument we’re being gaslit,” Davis warned. He listed likely exits: “Konate, Nunez, Gomez, Quansah, Elliott, Diaz.”
Downey backed this, saying: “You could be looking at some lads who are just good lads and don’t want to let the side down… when the job gets done, all bets are off.”
As Liverpool march towards a possible Premier League title, the summer transfer window looms as a defining moment. With Simons strongly linked, Diaz likely departing, and the future shape of the squad hinging on strategic decisions from Arne Slot, fans should buckle in for what could be a transformative few months on Merseyside.
