Mohamed Salah: Where will he go next after Liverpool exit?

In a bombshell statement, Mohamed Salah has confirmed that he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season.

The 33-year-old has decided to pull the curtain on an illustrious nine-year spell on Merseyside, but where could he head next?

Saudi Pro League

Perhaps the most likely destination, the Saudi league have long been in pursuit of the Egyptian King.

Kickstarted by a reported £180m offer back in 2023, it has been a never-ending story since then.

Most recently, Al-Hilal have been heavily linked with a move for Salah, who has largely struggled this season.

MLS

Another common place for players to head in the twilight of their career, the MLS will undoubtedly have a go at luring Salah.

In recent days, Orlando City struck a blockbuster agreement to sign Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid at the end of the season, which proves the pull that the league still holds.

Such move for Salah may not be out of the question. There had been some reports of interest from San Diego, but the Liverpool star is surely too expensive for such move.

It’s important to remember that in the summer, Salah will still have one year remaining on his deal, which means Liverpool will be able to demand a transfer fee for his services. Such figure is almost certainly out of most MLS clubs’ financial reach.

Europe

Whilst a move out of the continent is anticipated, there is still a chance that Salah could opt to stay in Europe and fight amongst Europe’s elite.

Clubs like Barcelona, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have held long-standing interest in the forward.

However, his poor form this season, mixed with his undoubtedly high wage demands, puts this at the bottom of the list in terms of likeliness.
