Givairo Read Transfer Opportunity Could Hand Liverpool January Opening
Liverpool’s interest in Givairo Read is worth watching because the circumstances surrounding the Feyenoord right back may be changing.
According to Dutch outlet FR Fans, Feyenoord could face difficult decisions in January because of their financial position, with Read and midfielder Gjivai Zechiel attracting considerable Premier League attention.
For Liverpool, who continue to assess their options at right back under Andoni Iraola, that potentially creates an opportunity.

Read has developed quickly since joining Feyenoord from FC Volendam in 2023. Still only 20, the Dutch defender has become a regular under Giovanni van Bronckhorst and is contracted until 2029.
His attacking production immediately catches the eye. Read has supplied four assists from seven league appearances this season, including three against PEC Zwolle, while he has also started in the Champions League against Barcelona.
Liverpool are reportedly scouting him regularly, with Arsenal and Manchester City also monitoring his progress.

Feyenoord Finances Could Shape January Window

Yet January opportunities frequently emerge because circumstances change. Feyenoord may prefer to retain Read, but preference becomes increasingly difficult to maintain when finances enter the conversation.

There is no need to pretend every talented 20 year old dominating in the Eredivisie automatically becomes a Premier League star. Liverpool will know that better than anybody. Yet there are elements of Read’s profile that deserve attention.
Four assists in seven league matches from right back is significant, while playing Champions League football at his age adds another layer to his development.
The bigger question concerns Liverpool’s plans for the position.
Bradley’s injury has complicated matters and Iraola needs defenders capable of coping with the demands of his football. If Liverpool already viewed Read as a genuine long term target, Feyenoord’s financial situation could accelerate a conversation originally intended for next summer.
There is also the price to consider. If Read and Zechiel together are valued above €60 million, what does Feyenoord actually demand for Read individually?
That is where this becomes particularly interesting.
Liverpool do not need to manufacture urgency simply because January is approaching. However, if a player they have tracked extensively suddenly becomes available at an attractive valuation, there is every reason to explore it.
Read looks like one worth keeping firmly on the radar.
