Building a Liverpool past-and-present squad is a good excuse to put your favorite Reds in the same starting XI. That’s the easy part; the tricky part is having enough coins left over for the rest of the team after signing your top pick.
Before doling out your FC 27 coins, choose a formation, check which Liverpool-linked players you already own, and shortlist options for the empty positions. It’s always a good idea to build a usable team first, before working towards your dream one.
Which Liverpool Players Should You Build Around?
To start off, pick two or three must-have names, rather than blowing your coins on 11 of the best players right off the bat.
Liverpool’s FC 27 base cards include Virgil van Dijk (88), Alisson (87), and Ryan Gravenberch (85). Conor Bradley’s 79-rated card and Federico Chiesa’s 80-rated card are also good options to consider when filling the squad. For the past side of the team, Steven Gerrard is an excellent pick with an 89-rated Base Icon.
Make sure to set a budget before starting to shop for your favorite player. You don’t want to empty your pockets in one go and leave yourself unable to fill in other key positions.
How Should You Compare FC Coin Prices?
Keep two prices in mind: what a player card costs on the in-game Transfer Market and the cost of a coin package on independent marketplaces.
When comparing FC coins on PlayerAuctions, check the game edition, platform, quantity, seller history, and delivery details. Listings display quantities in K, meaning thousands of coins, alongside per-K rates.
How Should You Split Your Liverpool Squad Budget?
Set a budget for each part of the team before making your first signing.
Let’s say you have a 200,000-coin budget; you could start with:
- Attack — 60,000 coins: Start here before buying an upgraded version of one player.
- Midfield — 50,000 coins: Budget for the players your formation needs, not just attacking names.
- Defense and goalkeeper — 60,000 coins: Leave enough to fill every position.
- Reserve — 30,000 coins: Keep room for substitutes, changes after testing, or your next upgrade.
Just because you have an unfilled spot doesn’t mean you have to fill it in right this minute. You can always save the coins and work towards picking up a favorite you’re missing later.
Will Former Liverpool Players Fit Your Chemistry?
Check the actual Player Item rather than assuming right off the bat that a Liverpool connection will be a seamless fit into your team. Go over the club, league, nation, and eligible positions when planning your XI.
Keep in mind that Icons have their own rules. In FC 27, they get full chemistry when played in position and add +1 to every league. And now, they have a +2 to their nation contribution, so always check new stats rather than going off old guides.
Before making any purchases, place the players you’re eyeing into the squad setup and check the result. Sometimes changing your formation around your favorite player makes more sense than outright replacing players around them. It’s also more cost-effective!
When Should You Upgrade a Card Instead of Replacing It?
If you have a favorite that you don’t want to let go just yet, check to see if there are any Evolutions available for it. For eligible cards, you can upgrade them through gameplay challenges. Keep in mind that each Evolution has different requirements and may even have a cost entry. Always be sure to preview the finished card and check its completion deadline before locking in.
Now, is it always worth it to choose an Evolution rather than straight replacing? Not necessarily. Before making the choice, be sure to compare the cost of the starting card plus the Evolution fee to whatever other card you’re eyeing. If it costs less to get a different player for the same position, chances are that Evolution isn’t worth it.
Once you’ve made swaps or changes, play them for a couple matches to see if they’re actually a great fit before spending any more coins.
