Liverpool 2 – 0 Everton PL Man of The Match

Darwin Nunez

From the opening whistle, you could see his powerful running was going to cause all sorts of issues. With a position that saw him start as the left sided forward, it gave him room to exploit a slightly laboured Everton rear-guard, especially in transition.

The intent and drive forward for the opening goal were pure Liverpool countering. With a forward line determined to keep pace with the terrifying Uruguayan, the goal was only possible due to Darwin’s relentless ball carrying and quality assist.

With some smart and intricate false nine play from the middle man, Gakpo, it allowed Mo & Nunez a licence to surge forward. You could see in the second half, that as the away side tried to alter their own game, our number 27 would be able to exploit space in behind.

He probably should have done better with a couple of chances after the second goal, but the continuing threat simply didn’t relent. He left the pitch earlier than expected, which was probably due to a need to protect a very important asset within this side.

Stefan Bajčetić deserves a special mention, with a very good performance in the number eight position.
