Mo Salah’s Instagram Post: The Egyptian King to Stay

Following yesterday’s emotional farewell to Jurgen Klopp, attention was starting to turn on the future of some of Liverpool’s star players. With Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil Van Dijk and Mohamed Salah all linked with moves away from Anfield, worries were starting to increase around the trio.

However, Mo Salah has seemingly poured cold water all over the rumours in his recent Instagram post. The post reads: “We know that trophies are what count and we will do everything possible to make that happen next season. Our fans deserve it and we will fight like hell.”

Fan Reaction:

The post has been greeted with a range of comments from Liverpool supporters thanking the star for his loyalty and decision to stay. One fan exclaimed: “Next Season? Mo Stays!” and another saying: “Our Legend has confirmed that he is staying!”

If this is genuinely the case, it will certainly provide some much needed momentum to the belief in the Arne Slot project at Liverpool and will definitely get fans excited for the upcoming season.

What Does the Future Really Hold?

As much as Salah’s Instagram post suggests that the Egyptian King will remain at the club next season, there’s still a long window ahead. Salah’s current contract at Liverpool is set to expire in the summer of 2025, so it’s a huge possibility that he could leave on a free transfer in that window.

However, there are still reports of significant interest from Saudi Arabia, with some clubs willing to offer up to £150million for the forward – so their could still be movement on that front.

Next Steps

For me, there still needs to be action taken in some form this summer. Whether it be a contract extension to maintain value or a sale for good money, I really don’t think that the club can afford to let Salah leave on a free transfer.

However, that’s something to worry about at a later date. For now, it’s hard not to be over the moon that the legendary winger will seemingly be staying on Merseyside one more season and hopefully he can get the fairytale ending that Jurgen Klopp heartbreakingly couldn’t quite achieve.
