Salah Makes History in Liverpool’s 2-0 Victory Over Ipswich
Ultimately it’s the opening game of the season and the result is all that mattered. Whether that be a scrappy win or elements or swashbuckling football. It was an early kick-off against a promoted team and the banana skim potential was prey high.
Fortunately the second half, was very different from the first and Liverpool ended up with a 2-0 victory over a newly promoted Ipswich side.
It wasn’t undeserved and on another day it could easily have been a higher score line. We look at the lessons learned from an early kick-off as the reds went top even temporarily.

Salah Still The King
Just in case anyone wondered what the Egyptian king still has to offer at the top level then he reminded them with all the records he broke in this one. He became the first premier league player to score in nine opening days of the s
eason and the fastest to achieve 300 goal contributions in 350 which is something special. The Egyptian King has a mark against his name into the record books and if anyone had any doubt, we’re now taking about comparing him against the all time greats (like we weren’t already). Liverpool have a Walking Demi-god amongst their ranks and today was reminder of just what he can do at his peak. A goal and an assist today was no surprise at all.
Tale Of Two Halves
It really was this and everything seemed to turn in the change of Quansah for Konate at the half time break. Slot confessed that the second half was far different from the second half and more about what the reds were looking for.
Liverpool created numerous chances in the second half and but for the Ipswich defence or Luis Diaz’s wastefulness then it could have been very different. Either way, the reds could have ended up with a comfortable victory in this one after a drab first half. There were chances galore and on another day it could easily have been a handsome victory.
Fortunately, Jota and Salah were there at the right time to contribute. Considering how limited they were in the first half, it’s surprising just how many chances the likes of Jota, Diaz and others squandered in this own.

Clean Sheet And Chances
It’s always a positive to keep a clean sheet and that’s exactly what Liverpool did in the main thanks to Allison Becker. It would be easy to say the likes of Gravenberch and Mac Allister had some effect, but in this one they played a key part.
Luis Diaz especially missed chances galore and in a tense encounter could have had a hat-trick on his own. Either way, the red wall was crucial and numerous blocks ensured the clean sheet was maintained. This was a positive opening from this one.
