Ipswich Town & The Battle to Be Ready for Liverpool
On the 4th May 2024, Ipswich Town Football Club confirmed their return to the Premier League, some 22 years after their relegation from the English top division of football. Since the Suffolk club was purchased by Gamechanger 20 Ltd (in April 2021), a measured effort has been made to push the beloved South East institution back up the footballing pyramid, which was finally achieved with a wondrous double promotion over the past two seasons. A major form of investment was engineered earlier in the year, which saw Bright Path Sports Partners a quite a 40% stake in the ambitious club for £105m. The ambitions of the openers have now finally aligned with the desire of the club’s support, which means just as much work off the pitch as on it.

Kieran McKenna’s Leadership and Ipswich’s Rise
Under the exceptional stewardship of Kieran McKenna (the current manager appointed in 2021), the 1961/62 English League champions have made continual strides to maximize their potential, however, something that is not always made evident is the huge steps required away of the famous turf.
What Did Premier League Promotion Require?
When stepping up from the Championship to the Premier League, a pre-planned initiative was immediately given the green light so that the Portman Road facilities could meet the standards set by one of Europe’s most prestigious competitions. In the years prior, the club’s training ground facilities were given a facelift (as a show of ambition), with a brand-new facility having been earmarked as the next step in the development process of the Rushmere St Andrew training complex. A complete remodel has been planned, and work will soon commence on the current site, which resides two miles away from the famous Portman Road stadium.

Upgrading Portman Road for the Premier League
Regarding the construction within Portman Road itself, the brand-new media suite and conference room have been completely remodelled. Due to a very tight timeframe from last season’s close to this Saturday’s kick-off (a 14-week schedule of works), TNT Sports were only able to start their own process of coverage and camera placement on Thursday morning, a mere 48 hours before kick-off. Local tradesmen and companies have undertaken a superb effort to ensure that the 14-week programme of work was completed in time for the Premier League season. In addition to the facilities designed to incorporate extensive media coverage (a further and more expansive media suite is planned), the changing rooms for both players and officials have had to receive a complete overhaul to meet the standards required of the famous top tier of English football. With works being carried out around the clock (in the build-up to this Saturday’s game), finally, the visit of European heavyweights Liverpool Football Club can be undertaken with Ipswich ready to receive them.
🤝 The Club is delighted to announce its partnership with global manufacturer @SPUKVentilation.
S&P also become an associate sponsor of the ITFC Business Network and a Gold Friend of the @ITFCFoundation.
