Liverpool Player Ratings
Alisson Becker – 7.0
The giant Brazilian was largely untroubled through the first half, as half chances were all that came his way through a controlled opening period. The first moment of real danger came with a brilliant save from a well-headed effort just before the hour, which kept his side at a 1-0 lead. Much of his work from then on was low-key, and the former Roma man deserved another clean sheet.
Trent Alexander Arnold – 7.0
The England superstar was keen to get forward and create opportunities for his more clinical teammates, with steady assurance in defence throughout a comfortable first half. The second half was much the same, as the right-back was a primary playmaker whenever asked to orchestrate buildup from the right.
Subbed – 71 mins
Andy Robertson – 7.0
The Scotland international nearly found himself on the scoresheet as a marauding first-half run ended with the 30-year-old firing at the keeper, who saved smartly at his near post. After the restart, the former Hull man should have scored again, as he headed straight at the keeper from close range. A comfortable game for the Liverpool legend.
Ibrahima Konaté – 8.0
The France international defender was powerful and resilient in the first half, against a team prone to battering away at the opposition rearguard. Much of his time spent was dominant and assured, as whenever there was a defensive action needed, the former RB Leipzig man was on point.
Virgil van Dijk – 8.0
The captain and leader of this team was calm and commanding throughout the first 45-minutes, as he organised all those around him. A dominating show of aerial superiority was clear throughout the game, as he drove his team forwards and secured another clean sheet.
Ryan Gravenberch – 7.0
The Dutch midfielder was once again the staring defensive midfielder, who despite a want to impress, was at times found a little wanting in transition through the first half. A yellow card was awarded after a reckless challenge in a steady opening period, which (much like last weekend), improved greatly in the second half, as his side gained full control of the contest.
Subbed – 90+3
Alexis Mac Allister – 7.0
The Argentina World Cup winner started the game next to Gravenberch as the controlling midfielder. The guile and ability to control tempo was apparent from the outset, as he knitted little patterns of play together whilst maintaining discipline in the central areas. He is a superior midfielder who allows the game to flow around him.
Dominik Szoboszlai – 7.0
The Hungarian captain started as the attacking midfielder, with a steady if unspectacular opening half to show for his efforts. The power and tenacity of the former RB Leipzig man was prominent after the restart, as he used his physicality to outrun his opponents and create havoc with incisive passes and play.
Luis Díaz – 9.0
The Colombian flyer was able to break the deadlock with a superbly taken goal, following a tantalizing breakaway. His energy and direct running were an asset in the opening half as he floated from the central to the left-wing berth. The former Porto man should have doubled his lead after the hour as he saw his angled strike tipped around the post. The assist for the second goal was superb and perfectly weighted as the farewell gift before leaving the field.
Man of the match
Subbed – 71 mins
Diogo Jota – 8.0
The Portuguese poacher was the provider for a brilliant first-half assist, as he tore forward before handing the ball off to his Columbian goal scorer for the game’s opening goal. As a thorn in the visitor’s side, he was continually able to make life difficult for his variety of markers as the game state ran through to half time. The second half was much the same, with danger surrounding the former Wolves man until his substitution.
Mohamed Salah – 8.0
The Egyptian King was involved in the opening goal, as he instigated the breakaway from a well-defended corner. Some good moments of play were evident in a confident first half without getting above third gear. The second half produced some great moments of intricate play as the former Roma man skirted around, doubling his side’s advantage. Eventually (and inevitably), the record-breaking scorer got that goal with a wonderfully taken short around and over the sprawling keeper. Superb and deadly in equal measures.

The Manager:
Arne Slot – 9.0
The Dutch manager went with the team expected, as he brought Joe Gomez back into the match day squad.
The first half was controlled and measured, with a brilliant single goal separating the sides. With no changes at half time, the overpowering performance of the illustrious hosts was evident, with changes coming only after a superbly taken second goal.
A tremendous start to life at Anfield
