You almost just can’t believe what you’re watching at times can you? West Ham hit the woodwork three times yet if Liverpool had won this by eight there would have been little complaints. This wasn’t a contest, but an absolute mauling and a Joe Gomez hamstring strain was the only blot on an otherwise perfect night. One man will rightly and understandably steal all the headlines, but there were shining stars all over the pitch for the reds. We look at the lessons learned from the London Stadium as Liverpool score another hatful in the capital.

Salah Simply Unstoppable

It’s actually crazy to say but in truth he’ll be raging he didn’t have more goals from this and Mo Salah should have. That didn’t stop the records tumbling in this one though. To have fourteen goal contributions and break a December record is special. To have thirty Premier League goal involvements by this stage is nothing short of outstanding. To actually break the all time record and have eight goal and assist games in the premier league before the half-way stage is downright filthy. We’re literally talking Messi and Ronaldo peak levels right now. Just the one goal and two assists in this one for the king. Outrageous.

This Current Front Three

They’ll take some shifting at the moment. Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz looked to be competing for one spot when the season started, but getting them both in has worked wonders for Arne Slot. Both continued their red-hot streak by each getting on the scoresheet and for all the rightful talk around Salah, they could both end the season on big numbers. It was also good to see Diogo Jota give them a reminder it won’t be a procession through until the end of the season with his sixth of the campaign. Whether we ever see Chiesa or not, the attacking options at Slot’s disposal are just incredible.

That Celebration

Funny how people have taken it different ways eh. Some Reds have claimed it was Trent shushing the Marca reports, while some have claimed it was eerily similar to his mate at the Bernabau’s trademark celebration. Only he will know, but whatever happens between now and the end of the season, if the Scouser in the team continues to perform like that then that’ll draw enough headlines. He enjoyed some fortune with his deflected strike, but he along with many others played a part in destroying West Ham. Why on earth would he want to be anywhere else right now?!?!
