Liverpool Confident Gravenberch Can Inspire Stamford Bridge Response

Responding To Setbacks

Liverpool arrive at Stamford Bridge carrying the rare sting of back-to-back defeats under Arne Slot, but Ryan Gravenberch insists there is little room for self-pity. The Dutch midfielder acknowledged the frustration lingering after losses to Crystal Palace and Galatasaray, yet his tone remained one of determination rather than doubt.

“Of course if a team like Liverpool loses two times in a row it’s not nice,” he told Liverpoolfc.com. “But I think we analysed it good and now Chelsea is waiting for us. So, we will prepare for Chelsea and try to do everything to win the game.”

Slot’s side have been accused of wastefulness rather than weakness, with Gravenberch pointing to Liverpool’s expected goals rather than their actual returns.

“Sometimes it falls your way and sometimes not. This time it was not but we still created a lot of chances, we don’t finish them but I know we will. And I know we will come out of this for sure.”

Stamford Bridge Anticipation

Chelsea sit eighth, still figuring out their own identity yet fresh from a Champions League win over Benfica. Gravenberch knows full well the scale of the contest ahead.

“We know Chelsea has a really good team, really good players. I know it will be tough,” he said. “It’s actually my first time playing at Stamford Bridge, I haven’t played there yet, so I’m really looking forward to it. We will prepare well.”

Goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili is also set for his first Premier League appearance at the ground with Alisson Becker sidelined.

“We know Ali is a big loss because, for me, he’s the best ‘keeper in the world. But we know with Giorgi, he showed already what quality he has. Also in training he’s really good. I know he will do really good for us.”

Gravenberch Growing In Influence

Gravenberch’s own season is quietly building momentum. His strike in the Merseyside derby has been nominated for Premier League Goal of the Month, a sign of his growing attacking licence.

“Last season I didn’t score, now I scored twice this season. The one against Everton was also a really nice goal. It’s nice to be nominated,” he said.

“The principles are still the same, like last season. Now I have a little bit more freedom. I can go forward but the six needs to be occupied by someone else, someone needs to be there and then I can go forward.”

Liverpool need a performance, and Gravenberch sounds ready to provide one.
