Liverpool Lifted by Alisson’s Imminent Return
Liverpool have been waiting for a spark, and the sight of Alisson Becker stepping back into first team training could provide exactly that. The Brazilian goalkeeper has been absent since 30 September with a hamstring issue, a setback that opened the door for Giorgi Mamardashvili to enjoy his first extended run in the side. Without Alisson, Liverpool have suffered, losing five of eight matches and conceding 14 goals. His influence has always been about more than spectacular saves, it is about calm, authority and certainty in the most pressured areas of the pitch.
Alisson Nearing Full Training
Arne Slot expressed confidence before the international break that his number one was on course for a return against Nottingham Forest. The Liverpool manager said: “Alisson for sure, and I expect Jeremie [Frimpong] back after the international break as well because we play from November until March. But I don’t expect Jeremie to be fully fit for Forest, but with Alisson we expect this.”

Players have been filtering back into the AXA Training Centre after international duty and Alisson is set to take part in full sessions over the coming days. It will mark his first involvement in nearly seven weeks and should give Slot a clearer idea of his readiness for the weekend.
Injury Concerns and High Stakes
This marks the fourth time in six seasons that Alisson has faced a lengthy spell out. More unusually for a goalkeeper, he has now suffered five hamstring problems in the space of three years. Such recurring issues highlight how physically demanding Liverpool’s style has been on their keeper, who often operates almost as a sweeper, constantly called into action far outside the penalty area.
Liverpool remain hopeful that the latest recovery has been managed with greater caution. With matches coming thick and fast through winter, Slot needs stability and leadership, especially in a defence that has been stretched and tested.
Slot Seeking Momentum Shift
The defending champions sit eighth in the Premier League table, already eight points behind early leaders Arsenal. Slot has spoken frequently about resetting rhythm and intensity. The return of Alisson could be central to that shift, allowing the team to defend higher, press more cohesively and trust the structure behind them.
Liverpool have lacked margin for error during this difficult run. Restoring one of the world’s best keepers could be the first major step toward regaining momentum. With Nottingham Forest visiting Anfield this weekend, the timing could hardly be more crucial.
