David Lynch: SLOT GOT IT WRONG WITH TRENT! | Liverpool 2-2 Arsenal Reaction

Liverpool surrendered a two-goal lead as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Arsenal at Anfield on Sunday. First-half goals from Cody Gakpo and Luis Diaz had the home support in party mode again as they celebrated being Premier League champions against a team who had been their nearest rivals for the crown. However, the Gunners fought back impressively in the second period, while Trent Alexander-Arnold's introduction as a substitute also served to change the mood. Here, Reds reporter David Lynch reflects on the performance, and discusses the Alexander-Arnold controversy that is threatening to sour the run-in. He also heaps praise on Conor Bradley for his performance at right-back and goalscorers Diaz and Gakpo. Check out this review of the game and make sure to leave your thoughts in the comment section. Observations from Liverpool’s demolition of Hull City

Ruthless, relentless, rampant and destructive. You can't help but love Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool these days. An utterly dominant performance against Hull saw the Reds run out 5-1 winners in a match that saw the home side in complete control from the first minute. It would've been a perfect performance had they not gifted Hull a...

Liverpool 5 Hull 1: Player Ratings

After a dynamic one-off performance on the Match Ratings column (a la Moreno) from Sam McGuire in the midweek cup game, we are back to the usual dour, weekly match ratings piece (a la Milner) from yours truly. 9 goals in 2 games at home. Conceded 2 unnecessary goals at home. Clearly we are doing...

Risk underestimating Jürgen Klopp’s Liverpool, at your own peril

It's been almost a year since Jürgen Klopp was appointed at Liverpool football club. Whilst supporters instantly fell for his charisma, charm and wit, I've always felt an air of scepticism over the clubs future success under his tenure. Supporters fear the financial power of the clubs nearest rivals and the draw that money...

Liverpool and lessons from the past

BOOM, BOOM! Was the sound we repeatedly heard from the mouth of Jurgen Klopp at Stamford Bridge following Jordan Henderson’s golazo this past weekend, and this has become a sound identifiable with that of Liverpool fans which signifies optimism one might say. Fans are excited (rightly so) by the start of the new Premier League...

Why Roberto Firmino is so Important to Klopp’s Liverpool

Liverpool have made a habit out of developing talented attackers throughout the years. The club's history is just littered with rough gems who have turned into diamonds during their time at Anfield. It must be environmental. Very few clubs in world football can boast that they've had the likes of Kenny Dalglish, Ian Rush, Robbie Fowler, Michael...

Liverpool vs Hull City Preview: Reds Bidding to Beat the Bus

Liverpool host Hull City on Saturday in their sixth Premier League game of the season, bidding to make it four wins out of four in all competitions, and must do so by getting past the inevitable defensive style that the Tigers will bring to Anfield. It's back to the bread and butter, to a certain...

Liverpool v Hull City: Key Battles

Liverpool have won three games in three after the first international break of the season, and the last league victory at Stamford Bridge would have been a huge boost to everyone at the club. On Saturday, the Reds welcome Hull City to Anfield for the second home game of the season. The Tigers have got only...

Klopp’s Resilient Reds?

Brittle, frail, delicate, on the brink of collapse and similar to a Creme Brulee with that soft centre are just a few of the creative ways the Liverpool defence has been described over the years. They're not wrong either, not since the days of Rafa Benitez and Kenny Dalglish's second stint as Liverpool manager have...

Klopp’s 2016/17 Entertainers: A Joyous Time To Support Liverpool

There was a point during Tuesday’s routine 3-0 win over Derby County when I realised I was enjoying watching Liverpool more than I can almost ever remember. Some of the football was breathtaking at times, with the speed, movement and imagination in the Reds’ play something to behold. Whether it be Philippe Coutinho’s quick feet,...

The Importance of Victory for Liverpool Against Hull

With the exception of the 2013/14 season Liverpool have made a habit of slipping up when they're clear favourites for a match. There are no easy matches in football but there are those that if you play to your full capability then victory should be a formality. The big teams, those who regularly finish in Champions...

Klopp’s Liverpool Shed Their Reliance on Coutinho

Last weekend, a Coutinho-less Liverpool pulled the pants down of the Premier League Champions Leicester, bagging four goals (and missing buckets of chances) against a defence that hadn’t conceded more than 2 goals away from home even once last season. Coutinho had been afforded a rest given his intensive travel commitments over the international...

Player Ratings for Derby 0 Liverpool 3

Player ratings are possibly the most divisive subject you can write about so instead of rating a player out of 10 I've decided to use gifs to rate their performance and allow you, the reader, to interpret the gif however you want. Plus after a really comprehensive 3-0 win for Liverpool it's not really...

Observations from Liverpool’s win against Derby

It was unnerving watching Liverpool against Derby but not in the way Liverpool fans have come to expect when facing lower league opposition. It was a professional job by the Reds. There weren't many, if any, scares defensively, there was no complacency from anybody in the team and, in the end, it was an...

Early season form proves Liverpool are title challengers

Liverpool made a strong statement in their bid to win the Premier League for the first time by defeating Chelsea 2-1 at Stamford Bridge. Jurgen Klopp’s men took the lead through Dejan Lovren in the 17th minute before Jordan Henderson doubled their advantage before the break with a stunning strike from distance. Chelsea were given...

Has Klopp put together the best Liverpool Squad in Premier League History?

For years now Liverpool have been overly reliant on certain players. The Reds have had decent starting XI's, teams capable of beating the very best on their day, but it's hard to sustain a top 4/title challenge when your squad players aren't anywhere near the requisite level. It's corrosive to the team. The lack of...

Chelsea 1 – 2 Liverpool | A Tactical Analysis

We are now five matches in to the league season and the competition is beginning to take on a more established look with sides finding their form. After an inconsistent start to the season, Liverpool began to find their feet with a win last week against reigning champions Leicester City. The fifth game of the...

Analysing the Benefits of Liverpool Not Being in Europe

Suffering from the mid-week hump? Had it up to your oven-mitts with Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood? Stuck for something to do after work? Wonder no more football fans, for we have been blessed with the return of the greatest and most corporate competitions of them all, the UEFA Champions League and Europa League. You...

The League Cup Is Still Important

The League Cup is irrelevant. The Champions League, despite bearing little resemblance to its previous incarnation, is the main pot to win and while the F.A Cup will always be the main domestic cup competition, the – God help us – EFL Trophy has been relegated to the lowest of tournaments. It’s an embarrassment...

Spreading the Goals – The Klopp Way

If you want to be successful in the Premier League you need one of two things; a world class striker of the Luis Suarez/Sergio Aguero ilk or you need a midfield filled with goals so there isn't an over reliance on a striker. If you manage to strike a balance between the two then...

Reds Off To An Excellent Start

Three wins, a draw, and a loss from the first five opening games in our Premier League campaign has drawn plenty of negative conclusions from a good chunk of Liverpool fans. We kicked the season off with a flying start at the Emirates, where we scored four on Arsenal's own turf, something that’s not been...

Liverpool’s Title Chances

www.BiggestFreeBets.com tipster Ethan Rowe gives his views on Liverpool's Premier League chances this season. Before the new Premier League season even kicked-off, Manchester City were the bookies’ favourites to lift the title at 9/4 but, having won all four opening games, those odds have now shortened to shades of odds-on 10/11. Conversely the odds...

Observations from Liverpool’s win against Chelsea

The Reds, as they so often tend to do, made hard work of what should've been a pretty straight forward situation. A hard fought 2-1 victory at Stamford Bridge is something to savour, but had Liverpool maintained their concentration levels throughout it could've, and should've, been much more comfortable and I wouldn't have had...

Chelsea 1 Liverpool 2: Player Ratings

A game of two halves if there ever was one, as the Tricky Reds displayed multiple facets of their game as Liverpool ground out another away win at Chelsea, the second on the bounce. Lets see how the Reds fared. Simon Mignolet (6) - Wretched first half from Mignolet as he was his usual dithering self...

Why the Simon Mignolet era is likely to end soon

On a weekend where more than a few headlines were devoted to Manchester City’s new goalkeeper Claudio Bravo and his struggles in the derby at Old Trafford, 34 miles down the road his (presumably outgoing) counterpart at Liverpool, Simon Mignolet, provided an expert, if subtle, lesson on why Pep Guardiola’s decision to allow Joe...

The Rise of Roberto Firmino

Irony can be a funny thing. In 2014, Northern Irishman Brendan Rodgers, The King of Calm, steadily led Liverpool within touching distance of the elusive Premier League title, only for the Reds to stumble an inch from the finishing line. After inevitably failing to replace the irreplaceable Luis Suarez, they underwhelmed and underachieved the following...

Chelsea v Liverpool: Key Battles

After four points from the first two trips to London this season, Liverpool head back to the capital, this time to Stamford Bridge to take on a Chelsea side unbeaten in the league so far. Antonio Conte's men were in cruise control against Swansea on Sunday, but then pressed the self-destruct button, before Diego...

Chelsea vs Liverpool Preview: Tough game expected under Friday night lights

Liverpool's seemingly endless run of tricky games continues on Friday, as they visit Chelsea in their fourth away game, fifth in total, of the Premier League season thus far. Seriously though, when are we going to get a nice run of fixtures? Soon, actually, ish. Once Chelsea are out of the way, it's Hull and...

Five Best Liverpool League Wins at Stamford Bridge

Friday marks not only the return of Friday Night Football on Sky, but also Liverpool’s seasonal visit to Stamford Bridge, where they shall be hosted by the rejuvenated Chelsea. The rivalry between the two clubs is steeped not only in past European encounters but also based on a cultural rivalry. North vs South, political...

Is Anyone Ever Dropped by Liverpool?

Football, like any sport, is filled with drama both on and off the pitch. However nothing quite takes the cake for journalists and for mainstream media like drama involving players and their respective managers. “Wielding the axe” – one of many analogies used to describe the non-selection of players by a manager; but nothing sounds...

Dahoud, Pulisic, and a Bit of Patience

The more things change, the more they stay the same. That’s such a clichéd turn of phrase. Often, with sayings such as that, meaning gets lost. What does it actually mean? If things change, surely corresponding changes occur. Something can’t possibly change without things changing alongside it, that’s the point of change. It inspires things,...
