Liverpool are in talks over a £30m deal for Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.
The Reds are hoping to secure the Georgian as a long-term successor for Alisson Becker before loaning him out for the coming campaign.
After the failure to capture Martin Zubimendi, the first signing of the Arne Slot era is not expected to feature for the club next season.
But Liverpool reporter David Lynch believes this could be a smart move that helps avoid a similar long-term issue to those oft-discussed midfield woes.

The Spaniard had emerged as a key target for the Reds this summer but has this evening informed them of his desire to remain at Real Sociedad.
